Temperamental Weather and Close Competition at Sunshine State

This year, competitors and spectators got to experience the gamut of weather at Sunshine State. Cold and rainy for dressage, steamy and humid for marathon, and finally, sunshine for cones. Held at the Florida Horse Park, in Ocala, Sunshine State proved to be a very close competition for the Advanced single horse drivers especially, as they vie for the upcoming World Championships. In the end, Donna Crookston and her Morgan, Cowboy, emerged as the winners after a double clear in the cones with Leslie Berndl dropping to second. The next Florida shows will be interesting for those watching to see who makes the US Team for the singlesĀ  Also moving up in cones was Steve Wilson in the Advanced Horse Pair and Barbara Sims in the Advanced Single Pony. Misdee Wrigley-Miller won the four-in-hand division. Katie Whaley and Elizabeth Keathley were battling out all weekend in the Advanced Pony Pair division, with Katie besting Elizabeth with her Welsh cross ponies, Tommy and Tanner.

Other stuff happened in other divisions, I am sure, but I was driving my ponies at the time. And the world pretty much revolves around them, so here are the pictures from Pics of You. Or results: drivingnews.us
